DIGESTION & DISEASE LINK

In May we exhibited at the MINDD International Forum on Children’s Health in Sydney. Leading health experts and doctors from around the world gathered to educate practitioners and the public on the growing epidemic* of childhood diseases often referred to as the 4As – Autism, ADHD, Asthma and Allergies.

Most often 4-A children are coming from families with a history of related brain-immuno-gut disorders including chronic fatigue, allergies, depression, diabetes, coeliac disease, digestive disorders and more. These illnesses, in many cases, are characterised by dysfunctional digestion and weakened immunity that lead to toxicity and malnutrition.

The seemingly unrelated 4-A disorders have shown a remarkable response to similar treatments including detoxification, bolstering immunity and improved digestion and nutrition. Many MINDD Forum experts recommended Fermented Foods and highlighted the link between disease and lack of beneficial bacteria in the gut.

*Autism affects 1 in 120 Australian children and 1 in 6 have some form of learning, behavioural or immune disorder. According to Dr. Kenneth Bock, “4-A Disorder” (Autism, ADHD, Allergies and Asthma) affects 50% of children in industrialised countries.
More information on MINDD can be found at www.mindd.org

WHAT IS A FERMENTED FOOD? – FermPlus

Fermented foods (also known as cultured foods) are foods that have been broken down by microorganisms (bacteria).

In effect, these organisms predigest the foods, breaking down the complex proteins, carbohydrates and fats to more easily assimilable amino acids, fatty acids and simple sugars, just like in the process used to make FermPlus. This leads to more efficient assimilation and utilisation of these nutrients and a reduced burden on the digestive tract.

The action of the culture organisms makes the minerals in cultured foods more readily available to the body.

The bacteria also produce B vitamins, providing a significant increase to the level of these vitamins in many cultured foods.
Fermented foods contribute to efficient digestion in three ways by:
- breaking down foods to make digestion and assimilation easier.
- providing enzymes to aid digestion.
- supplying and nourishing the correct intestinal bacteria.
These foods have been in the diets of many robust cultures around the world for centuries.
